Whale Watching Boat Tours
In Southern California!
Whale watching cruises in Southern California are best between December and March, maybe into April.
That’s when the annual migration of the gray whales take place along Californias coast.
The California gray whales travel from northern waters to the warm breeeding and birthing waters in Baja Mexico, and then back again with their calves.
So if you want to see these fantastic whales close up, take one of the many whale watching tours offered at harbors along the Southern California coast.
The closest whale watching tours from Los Angeles, depart daily from San Pedro or Long Beach harbors.
Other whale watching boat cruises depart from Del Ray Sport Fishing in Marina Del Rey. Phone: (310)822-3625. It’s actually the closest one from Los Angeles.
Ticket prices for the whale watching cruises run between $10 – $18 per person. I recommend that you make reservations.
You should bring your own binoculars. It can get chilly out there on the ocean so dress warmly. A jacket is a good idea. And the sea can get rough, so be forewarned.
You can call one of these whale watching tour operators to make reservation. From San Pedro’s harbor it’s the Spirit Cruises. Phone: (310)549-8080.
From Long Beach call Long Beach Sportfishing. Phone: (562)432-8993.
My husband and I have taken many whale watching boat tours over the years. It’s always very thrilling to have a close encounter with the California gray whales. I know you’ll enjoy these huge sea mammals also.
